About Me
Hi, I’m Abbas, and I’m a Software Engineer based in Stockholm, Sweden.

As a kid, I used to hang out with my grandparents on their farm, which influenced my love for nature immensely. Besides nature, I love running. My love for running and staying active started long before my career in tech. Back in 2011, I discovered Scooby1961 on YouTube, who’s like a modern-day Mister Rogers. His videos shaped how I think about nutrition and working out.

In 2021, I got bored with traditional weight training and stumbled upon gymnastic rings. They just looked more fun to train with, and I’ve been hooked ever since.

I’ve always been a tinkerer, with a huge urge to stray from the traditional way of doing things and explore other (potentially better) paths.
This really kicked into gear when my 2017 MacBook Pro began to struggle. The 8GB of RAM just couldn’t handle resource-hungry apps like VS Code, and the constant heat and fan noise became a major point of frustration. This pushed me to find more efficient tools.
I decided to finally learn NeoVim, an editor I had avoided since a memorable university class where I got stuck in it and had to close the whole terminal to exit. A couple of years later, I discovered developers on YouTube like TypeCraft and Dreams of Code who gave me the courage to try it again.
This experience completely changed the way I interact with my computer. It led me to discover so much cool software like tmux, which has become essential to my development workflow.
My curiosity didn’t stop at software. Frustrated by Apple’s high prices, I switched to a System76 Lemur Pro to get more familiar with GNU/Linux.
A year later, when I started getting wrist pain, I invested in a ZSA Voyager split keyboard. It’s been one of the best purchases I’ve ever made - it resolved the wrist pain and introduced me to touch typing and home row mods.

These days, I’m exploring GNU/Linux systems, self-hosting, and building efficient development workflows.
Here, I write about software and product development, lessons learned, and occasionally other topics that interest me.
